HILLS ON FIRE
This image won 3rd place in the environmental category of the 2010 Scottish Nature Photography awards. And was taken just outside Lairg in Sutherland, North Scotland and in all my years of visiting Scotland I have never seen hill fires of this magnitude. The large pylon in the foreground gives a sense of scale showing how high the flames were billowing.
